Bharat Datacenter is enabling Indian businesses to migrate critical Customer Relationship Management (CRM) workloads from public cloud to private cloud infrastructure hosted within its Indian data centers. This move addresses rising public cloud costs, strengthens data governance, and provides integrated Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) protection.

Bharat Datacenter, an Indian infrastructure provider, is assisting domestic businesses in transitioning their critical Customer Relationship Management (CRM) platforms from public cloud environments to private cloud infrastructure located within its Indian data centers. This shift aims to resolve challenges such as escalating public cloud expenditures, increasing data governance requirements, and persistent Distributed Denial-of-Service (DDoS) attack risks.

One Indian business, facing these combined challenges with its internet-facing CRM on a public cloud, opted for Bharat Datacenter’s private cloud solution. The initial concern was cost-effectiveness, but discussions revealed broader needs encompassing infrastructure control, data residency, security, scalability, and predictable long-term operating costs. The public cloud model had led to rising costs as user numbers, data volumes, and application resources expanded, while the business sought greater control over its data’s hosting location and protection against DDoS disruptions affecting application availability.

Integrated Infrastructure and Security

Bharat Datacenter’s team proposed migrating the CRM environment to a private cloud hosted within its Indian data center infrastructure. The migration allowed the business to plan its CRM infrastructure based on actual resource needs, avoiding continuous resource additions under public cloud pricing structures. The solution also considered data governance, particularly in light of the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023. While the Act does not mandate exclusive in-country data storage, it establishes a framework for digital personal data processing, making India-based private cloud infrastructure a preferred option for organizations seeking greater visibility and control over critical workload data location.

For security, Bharat Datacenter integrated DDoS protection, designed to identify and filter malicious traffic across network and application layers before it can disrupt protected infrastructure. The service includes automated mitigation and continuous monitoring, with the company stating its DDoS infrastructure has a filtering capacity exceeding 5 Tbps. This allowed the customer to view the migration as a comprehensive infrastructure and security project.

Strategic Shift for Critical Workloads

The experience underscores a growing trend among Indian companies: while public cloud offers an easy entry point for applications, the evaluation shifts to long-term costs, resource control, data governance, security, performance, and infrastructure location as workloads become larger and more critical. In such scenarios, private cloud offers an alternative, allowing businesses to select the most appropriate environment for each workload. Companies may continue using public cloud for development or testing while moving sensitive applications like CRM, ERP, and databases to private infrastructure. Bharat Datacenter also provides hybrid cloud options for combining private and public cloud environments.

This approach is relevant across segments: startups moving from early-stage to production environments, Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs) seeking alternatives to building physical data centers, and enterprises requiring dedicated infrastructure for workloads needing greater control, predictable resources, or specific security configurations.
